Barbara vs Zombies

A game I made a few years back, for my then-girlfriend Barbara.

She used to like an old light-gun game, House of the Dead, so I depicted her dodging and shooting zombies in this one. Included a backstory with silly romanticism, cats, and inside jokes.

It's been nearly a year since we broke up, and this game has been sitting forgotten in my hard disk. I eventually decided it shouldn't go to waste. It is, after all, a game meant to remind us of happy times.

Controls

  • Move: Arrow keys or WSAD
  • Shoot (once you get weapons): Space
  • Switch guns: Left Shift

Credits

Music is from RPG Maker XP. I was a fan of this program and games made with it, so I chose its music to supplement the nostalgia.

Terrain tileset & skies from OpenGameArt.

Thank you for this amazing and fun game, I have been playing it in class with my classmates since last year and I have loved it 10/10. My friend made a speedrun and I would like to share it here when I upload it to youtube.

THANKS AND I LOOK FORWARD TO AN UPDATE

Sorry for the late reply, thanks a lot for playing and sharing such heartwarming feedback! Would love to see the video if you upload it!

THANKS FOR RESPONDING TO ME!!!                                                                                                                                                                                                                              It is a true honor that you respond to me. Your game is really heartwarming. I understand that you can't make an update because I suppose you did it for a girlfriend you had, but I suppose you could make a sequel in which you are the protagonist, that would be EPIC.                                                                                                                Unfortunately, I still don't have my friend's speedrun, so I'll have to do one myself I guess.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  THANK YOU, THANK YOU AND THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Can I ask you what you are working on now?

At the moment I am working as part of the team for Blockbuster Inc, a tycoon game coming soon: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1793090/Blockbuster_Inc/

It sounds good, it seems VERY GOOD INDEA!, but unfortunately I have a chromebook and I will not be able to download it on steam, I will tell my friends to try it.

I'l try your vr game on Oculus!

Here you have a trick for the speedrun.

Happy to see you appreciate my response but it's really nothing, I'm always happy to read and respond to player comments, especially positive ones!

I'm always fond of this game and I have thought about working on a sequel sometimes, but I would need to come up with a solid concept, and I doubt I will have the time to work on it anytime soon :(

Pretty cool speedrun trick too! I thought I had tested thoroughly for things like these but it turns out I missed this, impressive that you found it!

I'm really happy that a real ARTIST responds to me, it's something that doesn't happen every day :))

I imagine that creating games is not an easy task and also that you will not be profitable to work on this one since I think it is not one of your most popular games like Stick Veterans, but I would be happy to help (sincerely) with story concepts or whatever you need.

I'm sure I'll find more tricks 😈

Congratulations I really liked the game, the only thing I would change is her jump, because in the game it ends up becoming much easier to jump the enemies than to shoot them, beautiful art and great music, I was glad to know your work I will follow your profile here on the itch, a big hug.
